These guys hit the scene with a bang 3 years ago with 'Thou Shalt Always Kill'. The duo released their second EP 'Logic of Chance' last month and this is the albums opener.
The track starts quietly and on first listen made me double take and think, "these guys have changed direction", but when the beat drops that thought was removed from my mind. The track gives the impression it's about partying, trouble making and drug taking and is delivered perfectly.
Scroobius Pip delivers his lines in his unique manner, in his slightly monotone yet still captivating voice. 'Jesus died for somebody's sins. But God knows he didn't die for mine', is the most perfectly delivered line in the track and has SP describing a pretty ghastly person. Dan Le Sac really seems to have stepped up his beats for this new album. The arrangement of the drum beats is dizzying and on the bridge of the track he incorporates menacing, stabbing strings. These guys seem to be developing their very own genre with some very diverse fans. Hip-Rock-Hop, maybe? Whatever it is they're nailing it and the fan base keeps growing.
