I can't believe my first post of the new year is going to be about a character from the TV series, Midsommer Murders but here it goes.

When I was younger I loved nothing more than watching Midsommer Murders on a Sunday, the whole 'whodunnit' thing amazed me! I'm so stubborn I'd be determined to get the murderer right (as it happens I never got it right and reflecting on it, I may have wasted a lot of my childhood). Anyway long story short, I loved Sgt. Troy; he made the show! So what is the point of this blog, you may wonder? Don't worry I'm not gonna go on about how Midsommer Murders shaped my childhood and create a poll to see if anyone else liked it. I'm actually going to make a very, very sad confession.

A few months ago I was searching the internet and came across Daniel Casey's fan mail address. Now for those of you who do not know who Casey is, he is the actor who played Sgt. Troy in said TV Series. So yes, that night until the very early hours of the morning, I, Samina Trickey, admit to writing a fan letter to an actor who no longer is on TV and now out of the limelight, asking for an autograph which I really wanted and could possibly have given to the boyfriend who just so happens to like Midsommer Murders too. So not to seem really sad I wrote the letter claiming the signed photo would be for the boyfriend. It went a bit like this:

Dear Daniel Casey,

Well firstly let me introduce myself; my name is Trickey and I am a student from South Wales. The reason I am writing to you is actually on behalf of my boyfriend ______ who I met last year at University. I do apologise, I have no idea why I am giving you a full background story here!

We both loved your role as Sgt. Troy in Midsommer Murders; we loved how you played the role and we're huge fans of the show. Naturally, my housemates feel I'm a bit sad, but I'm not ashamed to admit that I loved the most randomest of shows from Diagnosis Murder to Rosemary and Thyme. But Midsommer Murders was always one of the best! To be honest I was a little disappointed I haven't seen you on TV much after that but I do recall seeing you in Doctors which left me screaming at the TV and my mum thinking I'd lost the plot! You should have your own crime series!

Now the all important question. To be frank, I cant believe I'm asking this either. It's 00:12, and I'm writing to Sgt. Troy, nutty! I was just wondering if there was the slightest chance you could send me a signed photo? It would be an ideal present for my boyfriend for his birthday or for Christmas! It would be the funniest yet most appreciated present ever - I would be so grateful and you would really be doing me a huge favour. I've even included an envelope and stamp so you can post it back!

You were truly the best character in Midsommer Murders. I hope you are able to send me your autograph for my boyfriend and I look forward to seeing you in further productions, like the stage show Kes (Which looks really good, by the way!). Good luck for the future and I hope to see you in further plays or even back on screen.

So the next day I went all the way down to the Post Office in Bridgend, bought stamps and envelopes and sent my fan letter to his address I found online. That was Tuesday 18th of August 2009, now unless magic pixies stole my mail, it seems Daniel Casey hasn't replied to my letter!

Why?!

I'm a fan, surely now he's not a big star you'd think he could write me a reply; a little note just saying thank you. I wouldn't care if his agent or dog wrote a reply - some acknowledgement would be nice! If I ever were to become famous, I would make sure every fan letter is replied to. I don't care if i would have to take 3 days of a busy lifestyle, the fans are what matters!

So yes, Christmas has now passed and Santa didn't deliver me my fan mail. All in all I'm quite upset; 4 and a bit months of waiting - and nothing! Thats the last time I'll tell someone famous what a good job they're doing!

Daniel Casey you should be ashamed of yourself!
